Canada announces retaliatory measures to US tariffs
The US Government has imposed a 25% tariff on goods produced in Canada. They have made exceptions for Canadian energy resources and minerals - which are set at 10%; steel and auminum duties come into place March 12, 2025; and a 30-day reprieve has been granted to the automotive industry before tariffs will be applied.
Tariffs will remain in place until the U.S. trade action is withdrawn, and should U.S. tariffs not cease, the federal government is in active and ongoing discussions with provinces and territories to pursue several non-tariff measures.
