China and Sri Lanka Sign key MOUs to boost Trade Ties

China and Sri Lanka have signed two key agreements to strengthen economic and trade cooperation during the eighth meeting of the China-Sri Lanka Joint Trade and Economic Commission held in Colombo.
Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Sri Lanka’s Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe co-chaired the meeting, which focused on advancing Belt and Road Initiative cooperation, increasing trade and investment, and supporting the multilateral trading system.
Following the talks, two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed – one to establish a trade facilitation working group and another to enhance industrial and supply chain cooperation.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said the agreements mark a new step in deepening bilateral economic ties.
