Colombo Port records Rs.32.2 Bn net profit in eight months
The Colombo Port has generated a net profit (profit after tax) of Rs.32.2 billion in the first eight months of 2025, an increase of Rs.13 billion compared to the same period last year.
The net profit earned in the first eight months of 2024 by the Port of Colombo was Rs.18.9 billion.
Accordingly, the Colombo Port has achieved an Year-On-Year (YOY) increase in profits of 71 percent in the first eight months in 2025.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority says that the estimated profit for the first eight months of 2025 was around Rs.21 billion and the generated profit has exceeded the target by Rs.11 billion.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority said container handling grew by 6 percent in 2025 compared to the first eight months of 2024 as a result of continuous development projects and improving service efficiency. With the completion of the improvements to the Eastern Terminal and Jaya Container Terminal, capacity is expected to increase further, the SLPA added.
