DR. PARAKRAMA DISSANAYAKE ASSUMES DUTIES AS CHAIRMAN SLPA
Distinguished maritime, logistics and corporate leader and the Advisor to the President on Maritime, Ports and Logistics, Dr.Parakrama Dissanayake assumed duties as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on February 17, 2026.
The appointment letter was handed over by the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation – Anura Karunathilaka. Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil aviation – Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Secretary to the Ministry W.W.S. Mangala, Former Chairman of SLPA – Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe (Rtd), SLPA’s Vice Chairman – Eng. Herath M. P. Jayawardhana and Managing Director – Ganaka Hemachandra also attended the occasion.
Dr. Dissanayake was previously the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Aitken Spence PLC and held several senior leadership roles within the Group. He also served as Secretary to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development and has twice held the position of Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
He was elected as the first non British international president of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers U.K and was the Chairman of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Sri Lanka).
