Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree to boost transport ties

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan formally invited Saudi Arabia to invest in the Karachi Port to Hyderabad M10 Motorway, highlighting regional connectivity and trade opportunities. The proposal was made during a high-level meeting with Saudi Transport and Logistics Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. Both ministers emphasized the motorway as a strong avenue for bilateral cooperation and long-term infrastructure development.
During the meeting, the two officials agreed to enhance cooperation in aviation, maritime trade, and logistics. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser expressed interest in expanding flight operations and supporting modernization in Pakistan’s communications sector. Abdul Aleem Khan underlined significant opportunities for Saudi investment in Pakistan’s maritime sector, encouraging greater participation in trade and logistics projects.
The federal minister stressed the importance of public-private partnerships (PPP) in the transport sector, describing PPP as a model for sustainable development and economic growth. Saudi Arabia also showed interest in collaboration under the PPP framework to strengthen bilateral ties in transport and logistics. Both sides highlighted the role of digitalization and road surveillance as key priorities for modern infrastructure development.
The ministers shared insights on improving communication systems and logistics management, discussing development in Saudi Arabia and opportunities to enhance cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) framework. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting collaboration among member countries and expanding development initiatives in communication and transport sectors.
Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the deep brotherly and religious ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, noting strong economic trends that support broader cooperation. The meeting concluded with both ministers pledging to boost investment, strengthen transport links, and enhance bilateral relations in the coming years, with a focus on sustainable growth and regional trade connectivity.
