Pakistan's July 2026 Trade Figures Show Export Surge
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics released provisional external trade figures for July 2026, showing a notable rise in exports and a modest increase in imports compared with the previous month and the same month a year earlier. According to the bureau's monthly advance release, exports in July 2026 were Rs.823,553 million, up 31.95% from June 2026 and 8.00% from July 2025. In US dollar terms, exports totaled $2,962 million, an increase of 32.11% over June and 10.40% over July 2025. Key export commodities included knitwear, readymade garments, bed wear, cotton cloth, rice (other than basmati), towels, made-up articles (excluding towels and bed wear), basmati rice, petroleum products (excluding top naphtha), and cotton yarn. Imports during July 2026 amounted to Rs.1,932,034 million, up 0.47% from June 2026 and 16.46% from July 2025. In US dollars, imports were $6,940 million, an increase of 0.59% over June and 18.90% over July 2025. Major import items included electrical machinery and apparatus, petroleum crude, petroleum products, palm oil, plastic materials, iron and steel, iron and steel scrap, motor cars (CKD/SKD), raw cotton, and liquefied natural gas. The balance of trade for July 2026 was negative, at Rs.1,108,481 million in rupee terms and $3,978 million in US dollar terms.
