SLPA and Maersk sign terminal services agreement to strengthen Colombo port operations
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has signed a landmark Terminal Services Agreement (TSA) with Maersk, one of the world’s leading shipping and logistics companies, to enhance operational efficiency and increase throughput at the Port of Colombo. The agreement highlights SLPA’s commitment to delivering world-class port services and further consolidating Colombo’s position as a premier maritime hub in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe (Rtd), Chairman of SLPA; Eng. Herath M. P. Jayawardhana, Vice Chairman; Eng. Ganaka Hemachandra, Managing Director; and senior officials of the Authority. The Maersk delegation included Ms. Zsanett Balla, Head of Operations for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East & Africa; Nishish Saxena, Head of Terminal & Ocean Procurement for India and the Middle East; Biju Ravi, Country Manager of Maersk Lanka Pvt Ltd; and Thilina Udayanga Perera, Port Execution Lead, Colombo.
The event also facilitated high-level discussions between SLPA and Maersk on strengthening strategic cooperation and unlocking operational synergies. The Marketing and Business Development Division of SLPA, together with the TSA committee, played a key role in coordinating the agreement and ceremonial proceedings—underscoring the Authority’s focus on building strong global partnerships and advancing Colombo’s port capabilities.
