Sri Lanka to call investors to develop Galle Port as tourist hub
Sri Lanka will soon make a formal call to investors to develop the Port of Galle for tourism, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Anura Karunathilaka said.
Discussions have been held with several investors who were already interested in developing Galle Port for tourism.
“We are focusing on developing Galle port as a hub for tourism,” Minister Karunathilaka told parliament.
“We have got a number of investment proposals. We expect very soon (i-thar ik-ma-nin) to call for interest (abi-lar-sher yor-jer-nar) from investors.”
Developing Galle Port for cruise tourism and yachts had been a long-standing plan which has not been carried out yet.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority had earlier sought investors to develop Galle Port with a 150 metre long cruise berth and reclamation to increase land area by 40 hectares which can be developed.
