CMA CGM implements operational protection measures amid India-Pakistan tensions

French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced a series of network adjustments aimed at mitigating the operational impact of ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan.
New PIKEX Service Launched
As part of a regional service review, CMA CGM has introduced a new route, designated PIKEX, featuring the following port rotation:
Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Khalifa (United Arab Emirates), Karachi (Pakistan), Port Qasim (Pakistan), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Karachi, Jebel Ali
EPIC Service Update
In addition to launching the PIKEX service, CMA CGM will remove the Karachi call from its EPIC service, replacing it with Colombo. The revised EPIC rotation is:
Khalifa (United Arab Emirates), Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Nhava Sheva (India), Mundra (India), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Tanger Med (Morocco), Southampton (United Kingdom), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium), Dunkerque (France), Le Havre (France), Algeciras (Spain), Khalifa
INDAMEX Service Adjustment
The INDAMEX service will also be modified, with Port Qasim removed and a Khalifa call added. The updated rotation is as follows:
Khalifa (United Arab Emirates), Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Mundra (India), Nhava Sheva (India), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Valencia (Spain), Piraeus (Greece), Malta (Malta), Genoa (Italy), Fos sur Mer (France), Khalifa
AS1 Service Realignment
CMA CGM’s AS1 service will also drop Karachi, replacing it with Colombo. The revised AS1 port rotation will be:
Qingdao (China), Shanghai (China), Ningbo (China), Shekou (China), Singapore (Singapore), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Nhava Sheva (India), Mundra (India), Singapore, Qingdao
MEDEX Service Revision
Lastly, the French carrier will remove Karachi from its MEDEX service, implementing the following new rotation:
Khalifa (United Arab Emirates), Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Mundra (India), Nhava Sheva (India), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Valencia (Spain), Piraeus (Greece), Malta (Malta), Genoa (Italy), Fos sur Mer (France), Khalifa
Emergency Operational Recovery surcharge:
In addition to the service network revisions, CMA CGM will introduce an Emergency Operational Recovery (EOR) surcharge for shipments to and from Pakistan.
Effective 15 May, the carrier will impose a surcharge of US$800 per container for all cargo shipped from Pakistan to destinations worldwide, with the exception of the Far East, Indian Subcontinent, and Middle East Gulf, for which the surcharge will be US$300 per box.Furthermore, all CMA CGM container shipments to Pakistan will incur a surcharge of US$300 per container, with the exception of those originating from the Far East, which will carry a US$800 per box surcharge.
