CICT earns top industry recognition at AFLAS Awards
Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) has once again been recognised at the Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards, receiving the award for Best Container Terminal – Asia (under 4 million TEUs).
CICT has received this honour, for the ninth consecutive year, cementing its reputation as a leading regional hub for transshipment and container handling.
The 2025 AFLAS Awards ceremony was held on 3 September at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel, bringing together key stakeholders and decision-makers from across the freight, logistics and supply chain industries in Asia and the Pacific.
Hosted annually by Asia Cargo News, the AFLAS Awards honour organisations that demonstrate leadership, reliability, innovation, customer relationship management, and consistent service quality. Unlike many industry awards, the AFLAS honours are determined through a transparent three-stage process i.e. nominations, technical evaluation, and final voting, by the very people who work in and depend on these services such as logistics professionals, freight forwarders, and clients across Asia and the Pacific. This year, over 49 categories were awarded, with the top four nominees in each category moving to the final round.
CICT CEO Jan Zhang said: “Receiving this award for nine years in a row, is a testament to the terminal’s ongoing commitment to reliable, high-quality service delivery in a competitive regional and global landscape. This recognition reflects the trust and support of our valued customers and partners across Asia and the Pacific. We are proud to be acknowledged for our consistency and commitment to service excellence. It drives us to continually improve and innovate to meet evolving industry needs.”
The achievement also reflects CICT’s strong operational foundation. Since commencing full operations in 2014, CICT has grown its throughput from 680,000 TEUs in its first year to over 3 million TEUs annually, a significant feat, with an average growth rate of nearly 19% per year. The terminal’s integrated approach to technology and efficiency has been central to its success, with continued investments in equipment, digital systems, and operational training.
The AFLAS Awards remain a key platform for acknowledging outstanding performance in a highly competitive and fast-evolving industry. For CICT, this ninth win represents not just consistency, but an ongoing commitment to raising the bar for terminal operations in the region.
