Lankan engineering firm secures landmark export deal with Kenya’s, KenGen
Thimark Technocreations (Pvt) Ltd, an ISO 9001:2015-certified Sri Lankan engineering company, has secured a prestigious contract with the Kenya National Power Company (KenGen) valued at USD 156,000, marking a major milestone in Sri Lanka’s high-value engineering exports.
Under the agreement, Thimark will design, manufacture, deliver, install, and commission a movable hydraulic trash rack cleaning machine—named KILGHARRAH 600—for KenGen. The project represents a pioneering engineering solution designed and built entirely in Sri Lanka to meet international standards.
“This is not only a proud moment for Thimark but also a demonstration of Sri Lanka’s engineering excellence on the global stage,” said Tharanga Marasinghe, CEO and Managing Director of Thimark Technocreations. “It proves that Sri Lankan companies can design, engineer, and export high-value, technology-driven solutions that compete internationally.”
The company emphasized that this is the first time such a machine has been fully designed and manufactured in Sri Lanka, underscoring the nation’s growing capabilities in advanced electro-mechanical and automated engineering.
Founded as a specialist in steel fabrication, Thimark has evolved into a diversified engineering firm with expertise spanning industrial machinery, water sector solutions (including sludge scrapers, trash cleaners, and sluice gates), and automotive component manufacturing for major local assemblers such as DPMC (Bajaj), Senaro, Dyno, NWOW, Lencar, and Ranomoto.
With its recent success in Kenya, Thimark is demonstrating its ability to deliver cutting-edge, custom-engineered solutions supported by FEM-based structural validation and automation design.
Building on this achievement, the company plans to expand into passenger vehicle development and innovative product engineering for both local and global markets.
