Vietnam logistics delegation in Sri Lanka from Dec 20
A delegation from Hai Dang Global Logistics Company Limited (HDG Logistics) is visiting Sri Lanka from December 20 to 24 to seek local partners, the embassy of Vietnam in Colombo said, as the South East Asian seeks closer relations with the Indian Ocean Island.
HDG Logistics provides specialized services to foreign invested and other companies in Vietnam, to reach key markets including warehousing and customs service in addition to sea and air freight.
Vietnam Airlines is to planning to start direct services to Colombo three times a week from August 2026.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka could develop a supply chain in areas like apparel and footwear, Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General, Agency of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Industry and Trade said earlier this month.
“For logistics services, we can enhance our sea shipping routes between Vietnam and Sri Lanka,” Hai told a business forum at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
“And we can establish regional consolidation partners.”
Hai was part of a high level official delegation that visited Sri Lanka with led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka could develop a supply chain in areas like apparel and footwear.
Vietnam exported 430 billion dollars of goods up to November 2025, and imported 409 billion dollars, according to the National Statistics Office.
Sri Lanka had the largest transshipment port in the region which Vietnam firms can use to reduce trade costs, To Ngoc Son, Deputy Director General, Department of International Market Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam said.
Sri Lanka could be used by Vietnam to access South Asian and Middle Eastern regions.
“This can constitute one of the important pillars in our two countries’ wish to increase the volumes of trade over the next three to five years,” Son told a Vietnam Sri Lanka business forum at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Vietnam business delegations seeking links in Sri Lanka is supported by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and its Greater Mekong Business Council.
Ambassador of Viet Nam to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam, said any Sri Lankan business could reach out to the embassy in Colombo to link up with Vietnam business
“The Embassy is happy to receive any questions from you,” she said.
“We are always open to welcome any businessmen from Sri Lanka to come to the Embassy and discuss with us any proposals or recommendations for further cooperation.”
