Cosco Shipping turns to multimodal solutions for Asia – Middle East
Cosco Shipping Lines announced the resumption of new bookings for general cargo containers on Far East–Middle East trade via multi-modal transport solutions.
Bookings into Gulf destinations had been suspended due to the conflict with Iran.
Cosco Shipping announced it has resumed services covering cargo destined for: United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq and Oman.
Local cargo to Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali will be connected via a bonded land bridge through Khor Fakkan or Fujairah Port.
Cargo to Upper Gulf countries will also move via a bonded land bridge from Khor Fakkan or Fujairah to Cosco Shipping Ports terminal in Abu Dhabi. From CSP Abu Dhabi it will connect to Cosco Shipping’s feeder network for onward shipment to Gulf destinations. The landbridge across the UAE avoids transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ocean Alliance, of which Cosco Shipping is a member, continues to serve Khor Fakken via its MEA1 service operated solely by CMA CGM. Two other Ocean Alliance Asia – Middle East loops MEA4 and MEA5, operated by Evergreen and Cosco Shipping respectively, have been discontinued.
Oman bound cargo will be transhipped at Nhava Sheva, India to Sohar.
All routing is subject to regional conditions, vessel space availability, and final confirmation by the carrier.
Cosco Shipping Lines noted that booking and carriage terms may be adjusted in response to the evolving security situation in the Middle East. Customers seeking details on bookings, freight rates, and terms should contact their local agents, sales representatives, or customer service teams directly.
The company will continue to monitor regional developments and provide timely updates via its official website and customer service channels.
