According to data from Drewry, a key industry benchmark for shipping costs has recorded a weekly increase. The World Container Index, a widely used independent reference for index-linked contracts, rose by two percent.
The index reached a level of $2,172 per forty-foot container. This assessment was current as of Thursday, 19 March 2026. The organization also provides a broader service offering visibility into spot market rates across thousands of global port pairs.
