Sri Lanka, Pakistan discuss expanding trade ties

ECONOMYNEXT – High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka Faheem Ul Aziz and Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation between the two South Asian nations.
The ambassador “emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and tourism,” according to a parliament statement.
“The High Commissioner also underscored the significance of enhancing the existing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations to boost two-way trade.”
Aziz conveyed an invitation from the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan for Wickramaratne to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
The discussions also focused on reviving the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Association and exploring further avenues to strengthen cooperation between the two countries through MOUs.
Wickramaratne thanked Pakistan for its continued support to Sri Lanka at both bilateral and multilateral levels, including the discussions at the UN Human Rights Council.
